The Ribbon Chicago project aims to reconnect Chicago’s urban fabric through the construction of a pedestrian and cycling bridge along the Chicago Riverwalk, in a central area shaped by a complex infrastructure system.

The intervention is strategically positioned between Wacker Drive and the Lakefront, improving sustainable mobility by linking major green areas such as Lakeshore East Park, Millennium Park, and DuSable Park. The bridge unfolds as a multi-level system, integrating cycling and pedestrian pathways, recreational spaces, and scenic terraces overlooking the river.

The design approach focused on the seamless integration of architecture and nature, enhancing the urban experience and the usability of public spaces. DEAL was responsible for the entire design process, from BIM modeling to architectural visualization, as well as the production of technical and graphic documents for the project’s presentation.
